Accommodation Types

The type of accommodation you choose for your stay in South Africa will affect your experience - please let us know what type you think would suit you best you and we will make your stay a more memorable one:

Hotels vary from large international hotel chains to privately owned smaller hotels. Breakfast is included as standard. They are all star graded accordingly. Below is a rough guide to the grading system.

3* will give you comfortable rooms and breakfast for approx 250-500 rand per person per night sharing in double room

4* will give you that little bit extra for a little bit more, around 500-800 rand per person per night sharing

5* is luxury often with large rooms, balcony at hotels and lodges with all facilities, prices from around ZAR800 and up

Guest Houses
– for individuals and smaller group the preferred option and should be compared with small hotels. South African hospitaly and friendliness is famous which will be met in a guest house. These are often 3-4* but 5* available and relatively small with 4-15 rooms. South African guest houses are often privately owned and run which will give the visitor a personal welcome and an insight in the local life. Some have a special theme and/or interior decoration.

Safari Lodges & Camps
– our luxury safari lodges will most often include everything: meals, game drives, game activities, drinks some even laundry, butler and high tea. They are exclusive in their character with limited number of luxury decorated rooms to enhance your experience. The more moderately priced safari lodges might not include your drinks but still all meals and safari activities. For the budget minded, the cottages inside the South African National Parks is a good option. These might not include meals and safari drives but can be arranged.

Most Tented Camps are 4-5* and you stay in permanent luxury safari tents.  They have all the amenities of a normal structured lodge, just that there is canvass between you and the wild. These luxury tents will often give you a deeper wildlife experience while in complete safety.
