Getting Around
South Africa is a big country with great distances between our cities and attractions. Domestic flights will often be your fastest and most convenient option, especially between Johannesburg, Kruger, Cape Town, Durban and Port Elizabeth. South African Airways, SA Airlink, British Airways and Nationwide offer several daily flights. There are also three low coast domestic airlines kulula.com, 1time and Mango. Some game reserves are best accessed via charter flights and we offer fly-in packages to these.

SThere are two longer routes that we recommend driving: from Johannesburg to Kruger and onwards via Swaziland to Durban is a scenic route through the best game reserves and full of African cultural activities. The other route is the Garden Route - the coastal drive between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. Although, it is only 800 kilometres, there is so much to see and do that you need several stops along the way.

Hire car is your easiest option - you can collect and drop off at in all major cities. We have a full range of models at various prices - a car type Toyota Yaris Sedan with unlimited km and super cover insurance will cost you from R330 per day. For families, a car type Toyota Avanza with unlimited km and full insurance from R/637day for 1-13 days. The daily charge gets lower the longer you hire a car. 4x4 hire for the more adventurous wishing to explore off the beaten track and motorbikes - even with side car - are also available.

Escorted and guided sightseeing - from daytrips to Garden Route tours is another convenient way to experience South Africa. You can also hire a private chauffeur.

You will find cheap, safe and registered taxis in the major cities, we advise to phone and book them in advance as you will not always find them on the street. Public transport is often quite time consuming and apart from the long distance Greyhound buses and the Premier Classe train between Cape Town and Johannesburg, we recommend avoiding public transport.
