Wildlife Safaris
There are many different wildlife and conservation areas in South Africa, along with our knowledge and insight we would like to help you find the one that best suits your interest, budget and travel plan. You should spend a minimum of two nights on safari and preferably four nights to give the best chances of seeing our majestic wildlife and at the same time enjoy, the often, luxury safari lodge. You will normally stay fully-inclusive with two game drives or walks per day - one in the early morning and the other late afternoon or evening as this is the time when the animals are most active. Safari vehicles are 4x4 types Land Rover, open and guided by a qualified game ranger and a tracker.

The Kruger National Park
- our largest and most famous wildlife conservation area, established in 1898. Where nearly 2 million hectares of unrivalled diversity of plants and animals – this is real Africa. The world-renowned Kruger National Park offers a wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa. Kruger is home to the big 5 (lion, buffalo, leopard, elephant and rhino) and an impressive number of species: 336 trees, 49 fish, 34 amphibians, 114 reptiles, 507 birds and 147 mammals. There are also historical sites - from bushman rock paintings to majestic archaeological sites like Masorini and Thulamela. The Kruger park is run by South African National Parks with basic accommodation as well as a few concessions given to private luxury lodges. Most safari lodges are situated in private, wildlife rich, safari reserves bordering the vast Kruger Park. This is ideal as you can combine the luxuries of a private lodge as well as the safari drives with knowledgeable game rangers in the game rich private reserve with the famous Kruger Park.

The Sabi Sand Reserve adjacent to the Kruger is especially known for abundance of wildlife - inside the Sabi Sand are a number of private reserves and lodges - Elephant plains Private Game Lodge is one of our favorites and excellent value for money- 3 nights from ZAR5640-00 [FI] per person in double suite.

Thornybush Game Lodge
offers an exclusive luxury safari from ZAR9286-00/person for a 3-night all inclusive stay.

A Luxury Tented Safari will give you a closer to nature experience - 4 days 3 nights in a private wilderness site inside the Kruger park staying in walk-in safari tents is a back to nature experience without en-suit bathrooms and electricity but with all the hassle of camping taken care of by the staff. There are bush showers and toilets, camp is set up by staff, the catering is "5* bush cuisine" - this is a first class experience! From ZAR4694-00 per person sharing tent for 4 days

Bateleur Eco safaris is Based in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve which forms part of the Greater Kruger National Park, Bateleur Eco Safaris is the ideal lodge for guests who are eager to experience a true African safari. A visit to this tented, eco-friendly lodge will provide an intimate and rewarding experience.  With 10 000 hectares of pristine, Big 5 wilderness to explore, guests can sometimes go for days without seeing another game drive vehicle.  Bateleur Eco Safaris Lodge encourages guests to spend as much time in the bush as possible and provides a fascinating insight into the indigenous fauna & flora. 3 nights FI from ZAR 6900

Why not combine your Kruger safari with a visit to Swaziland and/or Mozambique and its capital Maputo? The safari lodges bordering the south of Kruger are ideally located. Ask for our Five Days in Three Countries Package - combining Kruger safari, Swaziland culture and Mozambique experience, See Mozambique

East Coast
– in KwaZulu-Natal, 2-3 hours drive north of Durban lies the National Park Hluhluwe-Umfolozi - with some excellent private lodges and reserves in the vicinity. Many considers Phinda Private Game Reserve unique and maybe South Africa's best safari lodge. Hosting all Big 5, Phinda is especially known for its leopards and luxury accommodation. The vegetation and landscape differs from Kruger and, should you have time, it is well worth doing a safari in both Kruger and Natal.

Eastern Cape
– malaria free 1-2 hours outside Port Elizabeth. The area has fast become a top seller as it is conveniently located at the end of the Garden Route and is malaria free all year round. Most game reserves has the Big 5 and some keep the predators in separate areas which makes the other animals less shy and walking experiences safe. Here you will also find your perfect family safari: family rooms, children activities and free of malaria. Addo Elephant National Park is this area's original national park where you will find basic accommodation inside and some luxury guest houses and lodges in the area. An hour north of Port Elizabeth, the Inkwenkwezi Private Game Reserve and Kariega Private Game Reserve are our recommendations as they have a variety of activities, good game viewing and beach access - the best choice for families!

Both Kruger and the East Coast reserves have summer (November to February) rainfall and the vegetation becomes thicker whereas the Eastern Cape has more of winter rain, dry summers and milder climate. Safaris are good all year round even though Kruger is best experienced between March and October when the heat subsides and it is easier to see the animals as the bush becomes drier.

For those only visiting Cape Town and with limited time, the safari lodges within 2-4 hours drive from Cape Town are convenient. Although, the Cape region is not traditionally a “Big 5” nor safari region, a couple of reserves today have the Big 5 and are perfect as a daytrip from Cape Town or an overnight giving you a malaria fee safari experience.

Specialist safaris
- for the safari enthusiast, we can arrange walking safaris, specialized safaris e.g photographic, birds, etc. You can even be taught the basics of tracking, gun handling, rifle craft, game capture, bush craft & survival skills. Sleep-outs under the stars can occasionally also be arranged. Let us know your expectations and interests! If visiting Victoria Falls, we recommend combining with safari in the Chobe National Park of Botswana just on the other side of the border from Zimbabwe - either in a luxury safari lodge on the river or for the adventurous, a walking safari. - Victoria Falls & Chobe
